Srinagar: Separatist leader and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik was detained by police from his residence here on Friday night, reports said.
Malik was detained following the hearing on Article 35A in the apex court which is likely to take place on Monday.
Media reports said police detained him from the residence in Maisuma area of Srinagar and put him up in the Kothibagh Police Station.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken a drastic step to withdraw security covers of five secessionist leaders in the wake of Pulwama attack.
The five separatist leaders whose security was withdrawn are Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabir Shah, Hashim Qureshi, Bilal Lone and Abdul Ghani Bhat.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said during his visit to the Valley that “some elements in Jammu and Kashmir have links with the ISI (in Pakistan) and terrorist organizations”.
It is worthwhile to mention that the outlawed Pakistani terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed had carried out a dastardly attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.
