Kandhamal: Police today cracked the murder case of man, whose body was found hanging to a tree near Balandapada village under Gochhapada police limits in Phiringia block in Kandhamal district on June 19.

Reportedly, police have arrested three persons on charges of murdering an auto-rickshaw driver, Harshvardhan Diggal, over past rivalry.

The accused trio, identified as Subham Nayak (19), Ranjan Nayak (19) and Sanjay Nayak (19), have been arrested and forwarded to the court here after medical examinations, the police said.

Notably, Harshvardhan was found hanging to a tree near Balandapada village on June 19. Earlier it was suspected that Harshvardhan committed suicide after his wife and mother passed away in succession a few days ago.

However, his father had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Harshvardhan was murdered hanged to the tree to stage it as a suicide.

Based on the complaint, Gochhapada police registered a case (35/19) and launched a probe. During the investigation, the cops came to know that Harshvardhan was murdered over past enmity and arrested three persons alleged to be behind the killing.
