Cuttack: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the government’s initiatives supporting the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and reaching out to them through credit plus services, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday.
The PM launched the event through live streaming. Alongside, a campaign was launched by Prime Minister in 100 districts of the country for strengthening the eco system for MSMEs.
Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended as Chief Guest of the occasion at District Level Programme held at Cuttack Saheed Bhawan by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India in collaboration with UCO Bank, Cuttack.
Various Ministries of Government of India would be associated with the event and the campaign. The campaign would be operational on the lines of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA)/Aspirational Districts and accordingly Prabhari Officers have been appointed vide DoPT orders dated 26th October 2018 for each district. Prabhari Officers would be supported by officers of concerned departments as outlined in this background material.
The campaign is aimed at reaching out to MSMEs in these 100 clusters and beyond thereby helping to nurture a robust ecosystem for such MSMEs. As the challenges faced by MSMEs cannot be addressed by any single Ministry/Agency of Government of India, the campaign recognises the multi-dimensional aspects of the interventions required in this regard.
Department of Financial Services (DFS) shall be anchoring the programme. The Ministries/Agencies of Government of India associated with the campaign are Ministries of MSME, Commerce, Labour & Employment, Chemicals & Fertilizers, Rural Development, Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Food Processing Industries, Pharmaceuticals and Textiles.
The campaign in these 100 districts is therefore of paramount importance. Progress in respect of the campaign shall be monitored through a dashboard created for the purpose which reflects actions to be taken by different stakeholders.
