Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote Odia culture and cuisine, Ranjita Institute of Hotel Management (RIHM) will organise a state level ‘Pitha Pana’ competition on March 31 here in the city.
The participants can either bring ‘Pitha’ prepared at their homes or can make them fresh in front of the judges. The panel will choose three best dishes out of all. Besides awards for the top three ranks, consolation prizes will also be distributed.
Citing details about the contest, Ajay Panigrahi, RIHM Advisor said the cuisine in Orissa is rich and varied. ‘Pitha Pana’ is one of the most nutrious and delicious part of the Odia cuisine. He further said Orissa is a state which is not only faous for its rich heritage, culture and temples but also for its delicacies.There are various types of Pitha that are made in Odia households including, Chhenna Poda, Poda Pitha, Enduri Pitha, Chitau Pitha,Arisa Pitha, kakara Pitha and Manda pitha.
President of the Institute Sushant Ranjan shared further details about the event. He said that every year, they will explore new style of recipes from across the state. The participants can register themselves by paying entry fee of Rs 50 at the registration counter at the campus on the day of competition.
As per information, so far 100 participants have registered for the contest. The institute claims that numbers can go up by 300 over the next few days. The jury will comprise chefs from different city hotels.
