Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions prevailed in many places in the state with the mercury dipping to 8.5 degrees in Phulbani of Kandhamal district.
The minimum temperature in Phulbani was recorded at 8.5 degree Celsius yesterday night, making it the coldest place in the state. The cold wave has hit the normal life of people to some extent.
Locals prefer to stay indoor after the dusk as they experience cold till 10 am. They gather around bonfire to beat the cold. A thick blanket of dense fog also envelops the entire area till 8 am.
Similarly, the picturesque and mountainous Daringbadi, Odisha’s Kashmir, recorded the minimum temperature of 9 degree Celsius.
According to the IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar, the temperature is likely to fall further in the next three to four days. The temperature may drop to 5 to 6 degree in the area.
With the onset of winter, tourists from across the state and country have started visiting Kandhamal district to enjoy the winter.
