Phulbani Municipality junior assistant caught taking bribe
Kandhamal: A junior assistant of Phulbani Municipality Corporation was caught red-handed on Thursday while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 at his residence in Penji Sahi in Phulbani in Kandhamal district.
The accused junior assistant Sarat Chandra Sethi of Phulbani had demanded Rs 40,000 from the complainant Gupteswar Mukhi to release his service papers and the pension papers of his late father amounting to Rs 80,000.
Acting on the complaint by Mukhi, the anti-corruption officials laid a trap and caught him red-handed while he was accepting the bribe.
The police recovered and seized the cash amount from his possession and both hands gave a positive reaction to the chemical test conducted, said the police.
