Patnagarh wedding gift blast: Accused Punjilal moves HC for bail


Cuttack: The prime accused of the sensational Patnagarh wedding gift blast case Punjilal Meher has moved the Orissa High Court seeking bail after rejection of his bail plea by the Court of Additional District Judge (ADJ), Bolangir on June 1.

Punjilal, the former Principal and English lecturer of Bhainsa College was arrested on April 24 in connection with the mysterious blast that killed two and left one grievously injured.

Reportedly, Punjilal had hatched the conspiracy to settle scores with Sanjukta, mother of the deceased Soumyasekhar after she took over as the new Principal of the Bhainsa College.

Soumyasekhar and his grandmother were killed when a wedding gift received through courier exploded at their house in Bolangir district on February 23. His wife Reema Sahoo left critically injured in the incident.
