Paradip Murder : Mahima’s wife Mala served notice to record statement
Bhubaneswar: Paradip police on Tuesday issued a notice to Mala Mishra wife of industrialist Mahima Mishra the accused involved in connection with the murder case of seaways company GM Mahendra Swain.
Mala has been notified to appear and record her statement on the case as per Act 161 CrPC.
Earlier Mahima’s plea for interim protection has been rejected by the High Court on December 3. His son had surrendered his weapons after both of their licenses were cancelled last month.
Notably, Mahendra Swain the GM of an Andhra Pradesh based stevedoring company Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited was shot dead by some unidentified miscreants at Madhuban Colony in Pradip. His family had accused that it was a pre planned attack made up by Mahima who was the owner of Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) a direct competitor of Swain’s company.
Mahima’s OSL Company wanted to minimise SSL’s impact on Paradip port both being stevedoring competitors. OSL lost an important contract from Jindal to the SSL and this had led to development of enmity between both, sources said.
After the murder as many as six persons including Rakesh Choubey, labour union leader and Congress strongman Bapi Sarkhel have been arrested in the case.
