Jagatsinghpur: Police arrested five accused in the Mahendra Swain murder case of Paradip on Thursday. Central IG Soumendra Priyadarshi confirmed involvement of Orissa Stevedores Ltd. (OSL) in the murder of the Seaways Shipping Logistics Ltd. (SSLL) with the clock ticking for industrialist Mahima Mishra, managing director of OSL.
In a press meet, Priydarshi informed that five people among the accused in Swain’s murder on October 26 have been arrested today including the main culprit Rakesh Choubey of Jharkhand, one of the shooters Riyasat Hussain and Mohammad Samin who helped in the firing and Cuttack’s Siba and Manoj Gochhayat. Police has also seized three guns, 50 rounds of bullets and two bikes along with a Jharkhand nameplate bearing XUV 500 and an autorickshaw.
“We have found evidence against OSL in the case which confirms their involvement. The murder was an upshot of dispute regarding stevedoring at the Paradip port,” informed the Central Range IG. “We will soon arrest other accused in the case. We have only completed 40 percent of the investigation. After taking Rakesh in remand we will conduct interrogation and unearth facts before the public that we are suspecting exist in the case,” said Priyadarshi.
Notably, the Paradip Port Stevedores’ Association (PPSA) had organised a press meet on Tuesday night and claimed that OSL has no role in the murder. Police had earlier issued a lookout circular against many officials including OSL MD Mahima Mishra who is abroad at the moment OSL members had informed on Tuesday.
