Pal Heights hotel owner to extend financial aid to domestic help’s kin


Bhubaneswar: Satpal Singh, owner of Pal Heights hotel here, today appeared before the local Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for questioning in connection with the death of a minor domestic help in a fire mishap at his residence earlier this month.

The CWC had issued a notice to Singh to appear before it by August 17. However, he had sought time till August 22 (today) for appearance.

Satpal Singh will bear the educational expenses of the siblings of Khusi, said Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member Benudhar Senapati today.

“He will pay Rs 2,000 per month for her elder sister towards studying in school and Rs 4,000 per month for studying in college,” said Senapati.

Besides, Singh will provide job to her mother in his company, he concluded.

Notably, a fire broke out at Singh’s residence at Budheswari Colony here in the wee hours on August 3 claiming live of five persons, including Tanu Das (12) alias Khusi, who was working as domestic help.

Post mortem reports had revealed that she died of asphyxiation.
