Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC, 2 civilians injured

Srinagar: The Indian Army said at least two civilians were injured on Wednesday after Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and targeted forward posts along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, as per reports.

“The Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively,” said an unidentified defence spokesperson. He further said the Pakistani Army had initiated “unprovoked and indiscriminate” firing of small arms, automatic and mortars from 8.15 am onwards in the Poonch and Bhimbher Gali sectors.

The injured were identified as Shamim Akhter, a 55-year-old woman from Dharati, and Raza Ahmed, a 28-year-old man from Basooni – both villages in Balakote sector in Poonch, according to the reports.

On September 24, two soldiers were injured after Pakistani troops allegedly opened fire at forward posts along the Line of Control in the same sector.
