Pak High Commission Officer asked to leave India in 48 hours for spying


New Delhi: A Pakistan High Commission Officer has been asked to leave the country within 48 hours as he was allegedly involved in spying. He has been declared ‘persona non grata’ for spying.

Pak High commission officer Mehmood Akhtar was briefly detained on Thursday by the Delhi Police for allegedly purchasing sensitive documents from an Indian national, but later let off him because of diplomatic immunity.

Police also arrested two Indians Maulana Ramzan and Subhash Jangir on charges of alleged spying and giving sensitive information like certain defence documents to Mehmood.

During interrogation Mehmood said he is an Indian citizen and also showed a fake Aadhar Card. Pak High commissioner Abdul Basit was summoned in this case said foreign ministry.

Notably Mehmood has been working with the Pakistan High Commision in India since the last three years.
