Paddy heaps gutted in fire mishap in Ganjam

Ganjam: Paddy heaps of two families kept at their farmyard were gutted in a fire that broke out at Kamundi village in Bhanjanagar last night.

According to sources, 12 paddy heaps of one Ajay Mallik, and three heaps of Lambodar Swain were kept at a farmyard which caught fire last night.

Some locals spotted flames billowing from the yard and immediately informed Mallik and Swain about the matter.

On intimation, fire brigade reached the spot and doused the flames. However, the actual cause behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained.

In a similar incident, around 150 quintals of paddy were reduced to ashes in Fakirpur village in Bhadrak district today. According to sources, the paddy stacks along with a tractor caught fire due to short-circuit.
