Orissa High Court issues interim stay order on Swargadwar land

Cuttack: There cannot be any handover of ownership in Puri’s Swargadwar land, Orissa High Court said on Tuesday in an interim order. The Court has issued a stay order over the land.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Vineet Saran and justice Krushnaram Mohapatra has issued the stay order today. The bench has also issued a notice to the state government to submit a statement within two weeks time.

In a case filed by Abhishek Das, it was alleged that 18 acres of land of Swargadwar is now encroached where around 30 hotels, lodges and market complex have come up. The allegations have come against many big businessmen, politicians and Jagannath servitors too. The fraud came to light when district administration was planning to take steps to develop the area.
