Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has quashed a notification of the state government regarding seeking of affidavits from school and college teachers for regularization of their services.
Taking up the case for hearing, a bench of Justice Akshaya Kumar Rath on Tuesday observed that the notification of the state government violates the fundamental rights of the teachers and quashed the notification.
According to sources, the state government had issued a notification in which it sought affidavits from those school and college teachers whose services were to be regularised after 2017.
In the affidavits, the government laid down some conditions. As per the conditions, the teachers would have to mention that they would withdraw all the cases they had filed regarding their regularisation and they would not raise their voice against any decision of the state government.
Meanwhile, some school and college teachers moved the High Court opposing the government notification. The petitioners alleged that the state government indirectly tried to violate the fundamental rights of the teachers by putting such conditions.
In the earlier hearing, Justice Akshaya Kumar Rath had ordered a stay on the government notification.
