Orissa HC grants bail to SCB doctor in Vigilance case


Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today granted conditional bail to Rabindra Kumar Jena, Head of the Clinical Haematology Department of SCB Medical College and Hospital here after he was arrested on charges of irregularities in Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF) and disproportionate assets case.

According to sources, Jena was granted conditional bail against cash deposit of Rs 50,000 and two sureties.

The court also directed Jena not to leave Odisha without seeking permission of the court.

Besides, Jena has been also asked to appear before the Investigating Officer along with the guarantors on the dates required.

Earlier, Vigilance officials arrested Jena near near Laxmannath check-gate, on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income, while he was returning from West Bengal. He was absconding on charges of embezzling Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF).

Jena was accused of showing undue favour to pharmaceutical companies by prescribing costly drugs to patients causing loss to State Government.
