Opposition hits out Naveen for ‘PC’ remark
Bhubaneswar: Opposition parties on Monday pointed their guns at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his ‘PC’ remark in the Collectors’ conference with the BJP demanding a White Paper on Government contracts awarded without inviting tenders.
Lashing out at Naveen for directing district Collectors to stop the practice of collection of percentage (commission) at block level after 17 years of BJD government, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said this has been proved that collection of percentage, popularly known as PC, from contractors on Government work orders is prevalent.
Pradhan alleged the CM holds the charge of two major engineering departments- Works and Water Resources- where collection of PC is rampant. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj are the two other departments famous for collection of PC from contractors on every work order.
The Union Minister further alleged that the CM’s directive to the Collectors which was deliberately leaked to the media was nothing but a publicity stunt. But, people are fully aware how clean the BJD Government is, he added.
