Open varsity starts media management course


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Open University (OSOU) has launched a specialized programme on media management, first-of-its-kind in the state.

The course will be offered from 2018-19 academic sessions, said OSOU vice-chancellor Dr. Srikant Mohapatra.

Students can take admission in certificate, diploma, advance diploma and PG diploma programmes of the course which covers media economics, revenue generation for media and management techniques.

The minimum eligibility for admission into the certificate and diploma programmes is Plus II or equivalent and bachelor degree for PG diploma. The course will be available semester-wise and will cater to the needs of those who are interested in managing different types of media, Mohapatra said.

Journalism & Mass Communication Department of OSOU is now offering Certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma programs, which has a total strength of around 2500. The self-learning materials (SLM) and teaching learning and exams questions are offered both in Odia and English languages.

OSOU has the distinction of preparing self-learning materials in Odia as per the syllabus and its available free of cost for all in E-Gyanagar, the OER repository of OSOU. The University has tied-up with Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal to provide hands-on training to its learners.
