One held for stabbing man over past enmity


Bhubaneswar: Macheswar police on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a man at Dasarathi Bazar Basti under the police limits here on Wednesday.

A knife was seized from the possession of the accused, identified as Mahendra Kumar Ghadei. He is a resident of Sunaqlati village under Itamari police limits in Nayagarh district.

According to reports, Mahendra came to the house of the victim Tapan Ghadei at Dasurathi Bazar Basti under the police on Wednesday night around 11.45 pm.

Later, the duo engaged entered into an argument and then Mahendra all on a sudden stabbed Tapan in his stomach. When Tapan’s nephew intervened, he was also assaulted by the accused.

The injured duo was shifted to AIIMS and undergoing treatment.

During an investigation, the police found that both accused and victim are belong to the same village and currently residing in Dasarathi Bazar Basti of Mancheswar on rent.

The attack was a fallout of past enmity, the police said, adding the accused has been forwarded to judicial custody.
