OHC Bar Association files PIL seeking judicial probe into CBI raid to sitting Judge’s house

Cuttack: The incident of CBI officials allegedly entering into the residence of a sitting judge of Orissa high court has now landed the Central agency into a trouble after the HC bar association on Thursday filed a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding a judicial probe into the entire incident.

The bar has urged the court to appoint a sitting judge to probe into the incident of alleged trespassing as under what circumstances and why the CBI officials visited the house of Justice C R Dash at 2 am without proper verification.

The bar association also demanded for strict action against the CBI officials, who had Justice Dash’s residence on Tuesday late night and manhandled the security personnel after they were denied entry.

“The illegal and in-human manner in which the CBI has acted will not be acceptable at all. They cannot just enter into anybody’s house without proper verification. The PIL filed will be taken up for hearing on Friday,” said Ashok Parija, President of the bar association.

Meanwhile, the cease-work agitation of the lawyers in high court and lower courts continued for the second day on Thursday condemning the incident. As a result of lawyers cease-work proceedings in high court and lower courts were paralyzed.
