OFS officer given compulsory retirement for corruption

Bhubaneswar: A government officer was handed out compulsory retirement on Thursday after being booked by vigilance for amassing wealth disproportionate to income.

The officer, identified as Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra, was posted as Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Athagarh.

He was booked by the State Vigilance in a disproportionate assets case for acquiring assets in his name and in the name of his family members, to the tune of more than Rs. 5.5 crores in the year 2016.

During his house search, more than Rs 1 crore cash was seized. He was arrested and forwarded to the court. Later, the officer was placed under suspension on February 25, 2016.

This is the highest seizure of cash from a government servant in Odisha.

Earlier, four high ranking officials were ordered compulsory retirement over corruption charges.
