Odisha’s Manasha Tripathy becomes youngest member of AICC

Bhubaneswar: Achieving a major feat in the field of politics, 20-year-old Manasha Tripathy from Odisha’s Nabarangpur district has become the youngest member of All India Congress Committee (AICC) reconstituted by Rahul Gandhi on Friday.

“I can’t explain my happiness. My selection to AICC shows the seriousness that the Congress leadership gives to the youth,” Manasha told reporters.

Manasha, who is a BA (political science honours) second year student of Nabarangpur College is the fourth generation leader in her family.

“I have been associated with social works since my school days. It won’t be a problem taking part in politics while studying,” she said.

Manasha said she would strive hard to associate youths with the Congress. “Youths of the day are focusing so much on career building. Career for them is engineering, medical and corporate jobs. Some of them should also join politics,” she said.

Her grandfather Jagannath Tripathy, a freedom fighter was elected to the Odisha Assembly twice. Her father Muna Tripathy is also a Congress office-bearer.
