Kalahandi: A man from Odisha has started a private shelter home, named ‘Prayash’ in Kalahandi district, for children who are HIV positive.

The founder, Saroj Kumar Das, had initially founded the shelter home in 2015.

Located in Dhamanpur village of Kalahandi district, the special home provides shelter to HIV+ children. Das also pays all the expenses for the education of all the children residing in the shelter home.

In a statement to the media, Das said, “When I was in the Child Welfare Committee, we rescued an HIV+ girl but faced a lot of trouble for her rehabilitation.”

This inspired Das to build the shelter home. He also mentioned that the organisation is functioning solely on donations.
