Bhubaneswar: The two-day state-wide strike called by the Bar Council of India over various demands have been joined by the lawyers of Odisha from today.
The peaceful cease-work agitation will be held on February 11 and 12.
According to sources, the lawyers in Odisha would submit a memorandum consisting BCI’s five-point charter of demands to their respective District Collectors today.
The agitating lawyers will also urge the District Collectors to forward the memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The demands include pension, financial protection, and insurance cover for lawyers and their families. The agitators also demanded Rs 10,000 per month as stipend for the junior advocates who started their career and required rectification in the Legal Services Authorities Act, sources said.
