Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government on Monday gave an upward revision to bus fares of all categories in state in view of hike in diesel price through automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
As per a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fares of ordinary and AC buses have been increased by 1 paise per km while fares of Deluxe and AC Deluxe have been given a raise of 2 paise per km.
With the hike coming into effect, the fares of ordinary buses will henceforth be 60 paise per km as against 59 before while the AC buses would charge 63 paise instead of 62 paise per km.
Similarly, fares of Deluxe buses would be 84 paise per km and AC Deluxe buses would cost Rs. 1.05. Previously both charged 82 paise and Rs. 1.03 respectively.
This is the seventh time that the State Government has hiked the bus fares this year. Earlier the government had increased the fares on March 10, 19, May 3, May 23, June 2 and June 18.
The fares have been incremented following the hike in diesel price on Saturday through automatic adjustment mechanism.
