Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday cancelled Durga Puja leaves of all officials of the secretariat and heads of departments in view of relief and restoration works in Titli-affected districts in the state.

“Considering the impact of cyclonic storm Titli and consequent flood thereafter, the government has decided that all the offices would remain open during the Puja vacation and government holidays till October 24,” special relief commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi tweeted.

“All kinds of leaves sanctioned to officials earlier have been cancelled till October 24,” Sethi added.

According to sources, the cyclonic storm Titli is now 30 km away from Kandhamal. By Friday evening, it will cross Odisha.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, the SRC informed that due to its impact there would be heavy rains in coastal and North Odisha. Due to continuous rain under the impact of Titli, the situation of three districts is alarming. Flood situation remains in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts.

Sethi said that 16 blocks recorded 200 to 300 mm rainfall. Besides, more than 100 mm rainfall has been recorded in 78 blocks. The water level of the rivers is increasing.
