Odisha DGP’s helicopter has emergency landing
Bhubaneswar: A helicopter carrying DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Tuesday, on its way from Kandhamal to Bhubaneswar, had to make an emergency landing in a school premises in Khordha district due to adverse weather conditions.
Sources said the DGP had gone to the Barkhama in Kandhamal district to review anti-Maoist operations along with Director Intelligence and IG (Operations). On the way back, due to the adverse weather condition the helicopter made an emergency landing safely in the Gopabandhu High School at Begunia in Khordha district.
Later, DGP Sharma said there were no technical glitches in the helicopter.
But due to the bad weather, for safety reasons the pilot preferred to make an emergency landing.
However, the helicopter’s landing in the school field created a flutter and a huge number of students congregated at the spot to see the machine from close quarters.
Sources said the helicopter began its journey to the State capital after the weather conditions improve.
