Odisha DGP reviews security in undivided Koraput district
Rayagada: Odisha DGP RP Sharma on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing anti-Maoist operation launched by the security personnel in the left wing extremism (LWE)-affected undivided Koraput district.
Sharma held the review meeting at the Rayagada SP’s office attended by ADG (Operation) RP Koche, IG (Intelligence) RK Sharma, SIW IG Ghanashyam Upadhyaya, South-Western Range DIG S Shyni and Rayagada SP Rahul PR.
The top cop of the state convened the meeting after getting input on the hideout of Maoists in Niyamagiri hills.
It is believed that the red rebels are hiding in the Niyamagiri hills after the landmine explosion near Sakata village under Muniguda police limits of the district on April 9. An Odia jawan of the District Voluntary Force (DVF) identified as Sanjay Majhi of Ambadola village was martyred in the landmine explosion.
