Odisha Assembly Adjourned Till Tomorrow Due To uproar By Congress
Bhubaneswar: Speaker Pradip Amat adjourned the proceedings of the Odisha Assembly till tomorrow following uproar by opposition Congress over several issues.
The Congress members created ruckus over felling of trees in Jhinkargadi forest of Balarampur village in Dhenkanal district for setting up of a beer factory and entry of CBI into the secretariat.
Besides, the opposition members also disturbed the house proceedings over alleged hooliganism by Biju Yuva Vahini in Kendrapara.
The Congress members sought reply from the concerned minister and created disturbance. Subsequently, Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House.
Earlier in the day, the Assembly was adjourned till 3 pm following uproar by the ruling BJD members over the slashing of the post-matric scholarship fund for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) students by the Centre.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot to restore the funding pattern of the post-matric scholarship programme for Scheduled Caste students.
Naveen made the request in a letter written to Gehlot after the Center abruptly changed the funding pattern under Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste students.
