NSG team conducts reconnaissance at Puri Jagannath temple

Puri: A three-member team of the National Security Guard (NSG) has arrived here to conduct a two-day ‘reconnaissance’ drive at the Jagannath temple on Saturday.

The NSG team visited prominent places within the premises of the 12th century shrine including Anand Bazar and held discussions with the SJTA officials and senior police officials to strengthen security features of the temple.

NSG usually conducts the reconnaissance after ‘sensitive’ places are identified in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, State Police and intelligence authorities

During its visit, the NSG team would make a blueprint for the strategic security arrangements needed during a possible terrorist attack, sources said.
