New Delhi: The WhatsApp earlier has spotted a new feature that allowed users to directly share Status updates to Facebook.
While it was initially said to be in testing and wasn’t visible to users, the feature to let users share WhatsApp Status to Facebook Stories is now making its way to WhatsApp. Gadgets 360 were able to spot the new feature on the latest version of WhatsApp for Android and iPhone, as well as earlier stable and beta versions of Android.
WhatsApp hasn’t made an official announcement about the rollout yet, but several users took to Twitter to report the arrival of this feature. People have also got it on their Android smartphones with version 2.19.258 of the app in India.
The latest beta version on Android allows WhatsApp users to hide updates from contacts you’ve muted. Currently, the hidden muted updates still appear in the Status. The latest update, however, will help you completely ignore updates from contacts you don’t wish to see.
It’s also worth noting that the WhatsApp Status you share with Facebook or other apps won’t be protected with end-to-end encryption. And, this feature to share WhatsApp Status will be only available if you have Facebook for Android, Facebook for iOS or Facebook Lite installed on your device.
Step 1: Swipe to the Status tab in the WhatsApp app.
Step 2: Upload an image or video as your WhatsApp Status.
Step 3: After you’ve published the Status update, you will notice a new “share to Facebook Story” notification. Tap on the prompt text.
Step 4: You will be redirected to the Facebook Story interface. Here you can customise who can see your Facebook Story. Tap to publish.
Step 5: The status gets posted on Facebook in the background.
