Not a single BJD leader turned to Pyarimohan’s house, claims wife Pratibha

Bhubaneswar: The death of leader Pyarimohan Mohapatra ended with quite an irony when it was noticed the man who built BJD (Biju Janat Dal) and had shaped many budding politicians for the party, many of the leaders from the same party came to attend him on his death bed or at least speak to his family after death.

Pyarimohan Mohapatra, once the most powerful politician of Odisha was alone in death. Mohapatra’s wife Pratibha while speaking to the media has claimed that apart from his family members not a single member of the BJD who used to make a beeline to his house in Sahid Nagar when he was in power untill he fell apart with the party Supremo Naveen Patnaik after a failed coup in 2012, even spoke to his family after death.

Pratibha expressed her regret that a party to which her husband had contributed so much didn’t pay the least respect on his death bed. She, however, told that on the contrary leaders from other opposition parties spoke to her over phone after his death, including Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a few others too visited him when he was at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.

As per report, some of the party (BJD) leaders met him to pay last respect at the airport itself and some went directly at the crematorium to pay their visit. Even some leaders including Damodar Rout, Ashok Chandra Panda, Pradeep Maharathy, Puspendra Singhdeo, MLA Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Pravat Biswal, Debashish Samantray did not mark their presence at any place including at airport or at crematorium.

The absence of the BJD leaders in paying their last tribute to the leader has led to a matter of discussion in the political and social arena.
