Normalcy hit as BJYM observes 12-hour Bhuban bandh
Dhenkanal: Normal life was thrown out of gear in Bhuban area of Dhenkanal district on Friday as the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) is observing a 12-hour bandh in the Bhuban Notified Area Committee (NAC) demanding the fulfillment of their 8-point charter of demands including sub-division status for the block.
Various educational institutions including schools, colleges, and coaching centres along with business establishment remained closed following the dawn-to-dusk bandh which started at 6 am and will continue till 6 pm.
Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the highway as activists staged road blockade at Kalibazar Chhak on NH-53. Commuters faced a tough time as bus services were interrupted.
Along with the sub-division status, BJYM activists among their demands sought the repair and widening of roadways in Bhuban NAC, construction of a concrete road from Anantpur Chhak to Tarini Chhak and a permanent stadium in the area.
Police personnel has been deployed at several places in the block to avoid any untoward situation.
