Non-motorable road: Patient carried on bamboo stretcher for 10 km in Rayagada

Rayagada: A critically-ill youth of Paramali village under Kalyanasingpur block in Rayagada district was carried on a bamboo stretcher for about 10 kilometers after the ambulance failed to reach the village due to non-motorable road.

According to sources, Pulaku Sikaka (20), was suffering from ill health from the past four days. However, Pulaku complained of severe stomach pain this morning, following which his family members contacted the 108 ambulance service.

But, the ambulance driver expressed his inability to reach the location as the village sans proper motorable road and is located in the hilly terrain.

With no options left, the family members with the help of some villagers carried Pulaku on a bamboo stretcher covered with a blanket, for about 10 kilometers and reached Kalyanasingpur Community Health Centre (CHC), where the patient was admitted.
