No need of Parents and spouse detail in Passports, ministerial panel recommends Centre

New Delhi:  The Central Government may bring big changes to all important passport ID. A recommendation regarding this was suggested by an inter-ministerial panel to the Union Government on Sunday.

Basically in passport booklets applicant’s parents name and spouse’s name are mentioned. But now the government may consider removing this option.

The proposals were considered for recommendation after looking at all aspects especially on grounds of huge number of complaints from women.

The Panel said the unmarried, separated from husbands or divorced women often have difficulty in delivering such information. But with the decision now all of that can be avoided, said the panel.

The panel was formed by officials from inter-departments of Women and Child Development Ministry, foreign Ministry and the Central Passport Organization.
