NKS stage dharna across state demanding ‘price, pension and prestige’
Bhubaneswar: The members of Nava Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) on Sunday staged protests at separate places across the State demanding ‘price, pension and prestige’ for the farmers of Odisha.
According to sources, the members of the outfit blocked the National Highway 49 in Keonjhar. Besides, the protestors were also seen picketing at Khalikote National Highway, Nayagarh Mukriapali National Highway.
Before the protest, the police had detained seven agitators and intercepted a vegetable-laden truck near Banki in Cuttack.
The outfit has been demanding a security allowance of Rs 5,000 per month for nearly 36 lakh farmers of the State with an annual budget allocation of Rs 21,600 crore.
