NIT team begins probe into allegation of poor quality construction in Jatni flyover
Bhubaneswar: Even as a team from National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela began a probe into the allegations of poor quality construction of the under-construction Jatni flyover by the agency, tension prevailed at the spot following which police had to be deployed,0
According to reports, a 10 member NIT team led by Civil Engineering Department Head of Department Mahavir Panda visited the spot and began investigations to check the quality of slabs. But some local traders, who have been alleging of poor quality of construction and inferior materials being used, demanded them to check the iron rods used in the piers of the under construction bridge.
But some Jatni Municipality Councillors opposed them and demanded the NIT to continue the probe. This led to some heated verbal exchanges and the police was deployed to prevent any worsening in the situation and allow the team to conduct the probe unhindered.
The traders have been alleging that they have CCTV footage of inferior quality rods and materials being used by the executing agency Panda Infra Private Limited.
