NIRF ranking 2017: IISc Bangalore top University and Miranda House top college in India


New Delhi: The Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for higher educational institutions in India on Monday.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore is the best university and Delhi’s Miranda House was ranked as the best college in the country, according to government rankings of educational institutions released.

While Chennai’s Loyola College was second and Sri Ram College ranked third.

Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University – which triggered a storm on nationalism last year – was ranked second among universities while Banaras Hindu University secured third position.

IIT-Madras was the top engineering school while Jamia Hamdard was judged the best pharmacy institute.

The ranking was decided on the basis of teaching-learning-resources, research-professional practice-collaborative performance, graduation outcomes and outreach of an educational institution.
