Coimbatore: After the arrest of ISIS module leader yesterday, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) is continuing its crackdown in Coimbatore on Thursday.
According to reports, the NIA’s fresh raids were carried out at three places in Coimbatore early in the morning at 4:30.
The investigative agency had conducted raids at seven locations. They have nabbed one person named Mohammed Azarudeen, who is a Facebook friend of the Sri Lanka Easter blasts mastermind, Zahran Hashim.
According to reports, Azarudeen is the leader of ISIS module and is maintaining the Facebook page named ‘KhilafahGFX’, meant for disseminating ISIS ideology.
The NIA believes that the group was recruiting local youths through social media to join the Islamic State for carrying out terrorist attacks in South India especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The NIA has reportedly unearthed PFI-SDPI link to the ISIS module and seized 14 mobile phones, 29 SIM cards, 10 pen drives, three laptops, six memory cards, hard disc drives, one internet dongle and 13 CDs/ DVDs apart from one dagger, one electric baton and 300 air-gun pellets.
This apart, a number of incriminating documents were also seized from the houses and workplaces of accused persons.
Sources believed that after losing ground in Syria and Iraq, the terrorist outfit has riveted its eyes on South Asia.
