New Food Policy from October

Bhubaneswar: New Food Policy will be implemented in the coming Khariff Marketing year 2016-17 which is going to start from October 1. The amount of paddy collection by State Government and concerned parties will be announced.
The Food Policy document for the Khariff season is being scrutinised by the State Government. It will be enforced from October 1 after the approval of the Cabinet. Earlier to it Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister attended a meeting with farmer representatives of 30 districts on Sunday. He sought full support of the farmers to implement the Food Policy.
The problems faced by farmers for paddy procurement was discussed by Dasburma with the representatives and steps that will be taken to tackle the problems were mentioned by him. Steps such as farmer registration for paddy procurement, Aadhaar card registration, infrastructural development of market, RDC level meetings, etc were discussed in the meeting.
Departmental Principal Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra notified the steps taken by the department to cater with the problems of the farmers and also promised to cater with any new problem the farmers are facing.
Depositing money is farmers pass book, providing insurance amount, providing sarpanch certificate for sharecroppers, checking capability of millers, etc was also discussed in the meeting.
