San Francisco: Netflix has reportedly withdrawn support for Apple’s AirPlay which allowed people watching Netflix on their iPads and iPhones instantly play the content on their TVs.
That means Apple TV set-top box users can no longer cast Netflix.
The matter came into light after some iPhone and iPad users complained of being unable to use AirPlay as Netflix has updated its support website to a state that its iOS apps no longer support Apple’s wireless streaming feature.
Notably, Apple last month announced Apple TV+, a subscription-based streaming service scheduled to launch this autumn.
Netflix, however, denied that the drop of AirPlay support has anything to do with Apple emerging as one of its competitors in the streaming space and a support page on Netflix’s official website says “Airplay is no longer supported for use with Netflix due to technical limitations.”
