Nayagarh OFDC field officer, MKCG hosp pharmacist caught taking bribe
Nayagarh/Berhampur: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught a field assistant of Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC) and a pharmacist of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital on graft charges.
The field assistant of OFDC, identified as Braja Kishore Beura, posted in Nayagarh had demanded Rs 2000 from one Bhagaban Nayak to allow him to lift two logs belonging to OFDC.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Nayak, the anti-corruption officials laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe.
While the bribe money was recovered from the accused field assistant, a case (54/18) has been registered against him.
Similarly, in Berhampur, a woman pharmacist was arrested by the Vigilance officials for receiving Rs 800 bribe to administer an anesthesia injection to a patient before for surgery.
The accused pharmacist, identified as Mary Khan, had demanded money from one Manas Samantaray, in order to give anesthesia injection prior to the scheduled operation of the latter’s father.
According to reports, the complainant’s father Hatakeswar Samantray was undergoing treatment at orthopedic department of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital following an accident on November 26.
The doctors had fixed a date for December 13 for the surgery. However, Mary demanded Rs 800 to administer the injection.
The bribe money was recovered and a case registered against Mary. The accused pharmacist has been arrested and forwarded to court, the police said.
