Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday wished DMK supremo and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr M Karunanidhi, a speedy recovery.
The DMK chief has been admitted to the intensive care of a hospital in Chennai for the last four days due to age-related overall decline in his general health, liver and blood parameters.
Patnaik in a telephonic conversation with DMK working president MK Stalin inquired about his father’s health and wished him an early recovery.
“Enquired about health of veteran leader and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr M Karunanidhi on telecon with Working President DMK @arivalayam Shri. M K Stalin @mkstalin; conveyed our wishes for speedy recovery and good health for ‘Kalaingar’,” Patnaik tweeted.
Meanwhile, the authorities of Kauvery hospital where Mr Karunanidhi, 94, is admitted said in a medical bulletin that the conditions which led to his admission last week had been normalised. “He continues to maintain his vital signs with active medical support,” it said.
“(But) an extended period of hospitalisation will be necessary due to age-related overall decline in his general health, altered liver function and haematological parameters,” Aravindan Selvaraj, executive director of the hospital said.
