Bhubaneswar: BJD Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today targeted the BJP-led Union Government for “halting KALIA scheme and trying to sell Chilika”.
The Biju Janata Dal chief today embarked on a marathon campaigning for his party candidates in Nayagarh, Puri and Bhubaneswar.
As per schedule, Patnaik first reached Ranapur in Nayagarh district and addressed an election rally this morning. He said that 40 lakh farmers have received assistances and 25 lakh more farmers have been enrolled for the KALIA benefit. The beneficiaries would get assistances of Rs 10,000 of two instalments on the first day of the formation of the new BJD Government. Patnaik also asserted that no one can stop the KALIA scheme till he is alive.
The BJD President then reached Banapur and addressed another election rally. He further alleged that the BJP was trying to sell Chilika which could have hampered the environment and the livelihood of many fishermen but the BJD did not let it happen.
“Chilika is mother and pride of Odisha. I will not let any damage happen to Chilika till my last breath,” Naveen assured the people.
The CM also questioned the Centre’s proposal to build Coastal Highway on the old one, while Odisha wants a new route. He asked, “Should we look at the welfare of people or the benefit of contractors?”
The Odisha CM also lambasted the BJP-led union government and said that the Central leaders throng the state only during elections and stay elusive during natural calamities.
“I am always with you and will be with you till my last breath. Bless me to serve you again and vote for BJD candidates for Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies in big numbers,” he urged the voters.
As per tentative schedule, the chief minister will head for Satapada in Brahmagiri block from Chilika to conduct a road show up to Puri town. He will arrive in Puri at 1.30 pm and take rest at the Circuit House. At 3 pm, he will leave for Srimandir for a darshan of the Holy Trinity. After which, he will begin a road show from Marichikot Chhak along the Bada Danda (Grand Road) and address a public meeting there.
In the evening, he will conduct a road show from Puri to Bhubaneswar.
