Naveen says Damodar Rout remarks on farm loans not correct

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that Damodar Rout’s remarks that farm loans are often spent on drinking habits or on daughter’s wedding by farmers is not correct.

Rout had said on Wednesday that many defaulters of farm loans are often spending the loan amount on drinking alcohol or towards wedding in the family. However, Chief Minister Patnaik today rubbished the statement and said this is not correct. he further added that the government is considering waiving farm loans.

However, the co-operation minister has now taken a u-turn by saying his statement has been mistaken as he meant the land owners take the benefits of loans and farmers do not get any support from loans.
