Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik formally launched the releasing of monetary assistance to landless farmers under the KALIA scheme from Kendrapara on Friday.
Attending a farmers’ convention, the CM released funds to 3.50 lakh landless farmers in the first phase. A total of 10 lakh farmers will receive financial assistance. They will get Rs 12,500 each in three installments.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said the KALIA scheme has shown the path to the country. It has benefitted all types of farmers like marginal farmers, landless farmers and sharecroppers.
He said the Centre recently launched the PM-Kisan Yojana for farmers which does not have anything for landless farmers. “I had written to the Cetnre to include the landless farmers in the scheme.
Notably, the state government has transferred Rs 5,000 to 12.45 lakh farmers under the scheme in the first phase.
