Puri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a relief package for cyclone-ravaged Puri district after reviewing relief and restoration works.
The Odisha CM reviewed a meeting in the presence of Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi, Puri Collector Balwant Singh and Puri SP Uma Shankar Dash at the Circuit House, here today.
The Chief Minister announced that each cyclone-affected family will get 2.5 litres of kerosene for free every 10 days till power supply is restored and 10 lakh candles will also be distributed in the cyclone-hit areas of the Pilgrim town.
Patnaik also declared that every cyclone-affected family will be given 50 kg rice, including those without ration cards and free sanitary pads for two months.
About 10,000 personnel are engaged in the restoration work across the district and electricity will be provided as soon as possible. Puri Town, Nimapara and Konark NACs will get power supply by tonight in a phased manner, Patnaik further informed.
The Odisha Chief Minister also expressed condolence to the families of those who lost their lives during the devastating Cyclone FANI, which claimed the maximum number of lives in Puri district.
