Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park here on Wednesday will be welcoming 24 new entrants including five mugger crocodiles into its reserve.
The new entrants included 5 mugger crocs out of which there are 2 males and 3 females, 5 white jungle fowl comprising 2 males and three females, 2 pairs of Sarang bird, 2 pairs of white peacocks, 7 gurundi birds comprising 2 males and 5 females will be brought to city zoo as part of an exchange programme from Hyderabad zoo after permission from the Central Zoo Authority.
Besides, to stop inbreeding in the zoo Hyderabad zoo authorities are also bringing with them a male tiger.
Some 47 different animals will be sent from the city zoo which includes a red female tiger, ten pairs of java birds, ten pairs of zebra finch birds, 3 monitor lizards including two females and one male.
Some animal experts including veterinary doctors have been deployed to inspect the health conditions of the animals which will be brought from Hyderabad.
