Bhubaneswar: Nabarangpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivekananda Sharma, who was recently embroiled in controversy in an assault case, has been transferred to the state police headquarters.
According to sources, Vivekananda has been directed to join the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.
Meanwhile, Keonjhar SP has been directed to take additional charges of Nabarangpur district on a temporary basis till a new officer resumes the post.
Earlier on Monday, DGP RP Sharma directed a probe into the alleged assault on a private cable operator by the Nabarangpur SP.
Notably, a cable operator named Babula Bhatra was allegedly thrashed by the SP at the latter’s residence on November 23.
Earlier in August this year, two subordinate staffs, working as the domestic help at the residence of Nabarangpur SP, also alleged torture by Vivekananda.
