Bhubaneswar: Two days after quitting Odisha’s ruling BJD, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today ahead of the 2019 polls.
Majhi joined the saffron party in the presence of BJP’s national vice president Baijayant Panda, union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan & Jual Oram and BJP’s Odisha in-charge Arun Singh at New Delhi.
Notably, Majhi had resigned from the ruling Biju Janata Dal on March 14 citing ‘neglect’ by the party functionaries.
Welcoming the parliamentarian to the BJP, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that Majhi’s inclusion will strengthen the party.
In a tweet, BJP’s national vice-president Baijayant Panda said: “Welcome to BJP! I know how you were mistreated & stymied from working. I look forward to working together for the development of Odisha and India”.
